Scottish Badges & Brooches
Hi all, I just wanted to share this with you. I have never seen this badge anywere. I was hoping someone would be able to enlighten me on it. I thought it was Black Watch. It is brass, with white and green baked enamel (like porcelain). It has one fixing lug at the top and a pin like a pinback. Thanks, uncletom

Not sure what this badge is but i saw one on ebay that sold for $10.50 and they seemed to think it was made for reenactment.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEDW:IT&ih=022 I can find no reference to this type of badge in any of my books, sorry Cheers Malc

I've encountered this kind of thing before with Black Watch of Canada glengarry badges.
This appears to be a regular post 1937 O/Rs glengarry badge that has been modified by someone with the application of the enamel, and the removal of lugs and the addition of the brooch pin. Some efforts of this sort are very well done, others less so. I've seen fine enamel work, crude paint jobs, and examples ranging between these two in terms of quality of work and presentation. Hard to say what each was used for, but probably just to create something "pretty" For me, they are intersting examples and oddities. Cheers, Adam |

That pin (with internal roll catch) is a very American style.
They look to be 'smartened up' origionals .The last one showing some origional wear & a trimmed lower star tip . Cheers ! Steve |
