Anodised Duke of Wellingtons Regt belt plate badge
Gents, a recent find - belt plate and badge for the Duke of Wellingtons Regt. The badge is anodised alluminium and has the typical short stubby belt plate lugs we recognise. The badge is as the Regiments collars worn in the Yorkshire Brigade. I've never seen one of these before.
My question guys, is:- was it worn in the Brigade or is it a post Brigade item? Presumably the chrome belt plate is worn with the white nylon belt. I dont know when these were introduced, which may help to date this piece. Any suggestions welcomed chaps. Bess |

Some Temporary GM belt plates were sealed in 1967 & 1968, and a silver belt plate in 1968. Helps maybe.
Also worn with the Black Plastic and the White Plastic belt, also in unlucky the white Blancoed buff leather belt. Marc

Thanks Marc. Well thats almost spot on for the end of the Yorkshire Bde in 1968, so perhaps worn towards the end of the Bde and carried on into the Duke Of Wellingtons Regt proper, when the old elephant collars were reintroduced only in anodised alluminium.
Thanks Marc, that helps. |

From Churchills Infantry Collar Badges.
" In 1957 ,The regiment chose a new collar badge sealed in 1958,worn until 1965 when a new anodised pattern was cut. When the Brigade system was ended, permission was sought to bring back the use of the former badges. The cap badge was worn again in Nov 1969 with the Brigade collars. The gold elephant collars were sealed in Jun 1970 but due to a large stock of the Brigade collars ,it was the mid 70's before the elephants were worn." |
