Default LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS -ECON?

Hello all....been a long time since I posted or asked a question. I'm out of the loop and forgotten much I gleaned in the past since 2014 when I dropped out of the collecting lark...but back..

Quick question....can anyone confirm (Once and for all in my mind) whether the Lancashire Fusiliers had an econ?.......I did a search, but nothing came up. I saw something recently for sale, and it looked like an econ....

Cheers
Simon.

Hi all....and thanks for the warm welcome back. Can't say I'll have the time I once had to be on as much, due to other hobbies taking my time....but glad to be back and popping by now and again.

Thanks for the link Alan, I'll download an image of the set for reference. It's surprising they didn't make an econ' of the Lancashire Fusiliers as it is bi-metal with a nickel part.

I'm in the middle of a complete inventory of the WW1 collection, and weeding out some for sale etc. Need to pin down on the last few to get for a complete set.

Anyway, thanks again

All the best
Simon.

You do encounter odd examples from time to time, but, certainly from my own point of view, after a brief glance, they all appear to be completely spurious.

It was not the 2 part construction that was time consuming but overlaid parts that seems to be the main determinant. Presumably attaching a tagged scroll was much simpler than cuttting a brasing hole and having to brase a second part over the top.

Likewise I imagine having a one piece badge cut out rather than a tagged scroll would be actually harder to do.

Sorry Alan, maybe I should have said the use of the white metal which was nickel based was the big reason for all brass......hence why having the white metal scroll is still odd.......

Unlike WW2 which was about saving metal, WW1 economy was about speeding up production time. All nickel badges remained unchanged.

Ever since the Industrial Revolution, the cost of labour has been outsripping the cost of meterial.
