Superb as always here. I would not have recognized the buckles as being military issue. Did each regiment have a differing pattern?
The postcard is interesting in that it shows him wearing a scarlet doublet. Is this a coloring error? CB

Picture was taken at Edinburgh Castle circa 1904 not sure when archer green tunics were worn. The reverse of card reads, "1/2/06 135 Devonshire Rd Forest Hill London S.E. Dear Sir, may I ask you kindly to return this card to the above and add your signature on the other side for my collection thanking you in anticipation.
W Reginald Bray. Card addressed to The Pipe Major (as per photo) Black Watch Regt C/O War Office. Card was redirected to Perth who in turn sent it on to Fort George where Regt were stationed. The PM signed the card but did not return it to sender, it was discovered amongst his belongings after his passing. |

Officers S/P gilt mount removed from a SBP 1936 pattern with reversed titles. Cast back star with brazed on scrolls silver St. Andrew on a gilt overlay. The reverse with heavy glue deposits vertical cotter pin original the horizontal my replacement to stop rattle of overlay. Probably removed from plate when scrolls were dropped then glued to a board for display at 70 x 90mm would make an impressive centre piece. This is the first plate mount I have seen with reversed titles.
