Smile 1st VB DCLI

1st Volunteer Battalion Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry white metal cap badge, it is not K&K 1582 (582 but an error in K&K) with 1st VB on oval tablet as per the reproduction one in my Metal Composition Analysis album. The example below is lugged and pre-1908.

8th Foot has posted previously about this badge - "There are 2 examples ( line drawings ) illustrated for the 1st V.B. in Ivall and Thomas "Military Insignia of Cornwall ".

- The oval tablet (No 266) said to be worn by other ranks only ) and another with a scroll attached below a regular pattern DCLI cap badge (No 265) and said to be silvered for officers and die struck white metal for other ranks".

This is No 265 for other ranks.

Without the Forum and the knowledge of its members very hard to know what you have sometimes.

Cheers Dean.
