Default William 1V cypher?

Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to what this is? I posted it elsewhere for information to another member but would like some opinions as to whether this has Artillery connections or not. Regards, D.J.

And I’m glad this thread is back again, it disappeared after less than 24 hours! Waiting for Andy’s response. It’s not in K&Ks “Bible”. Do I have something worthy or not? Long story on it but I’ll hold off on boring you all. Regards, D.J.

It's certainly a William IV cypher, but unfortunately all the references concerning regular RA shako and busby plume holders indicate them as being plain during that reign and the first RA plume holder with a sovereign's cypher is that for the Albert Shako 1846-1854 (see enclosed image). However, there were militia and even volunteer artillery at various times and they tended to follow their own regulation so I suppose it's not impossible that subject plume holder might relate to them.
