Hi All,
I have a RNVR patch on a belt alongside WW1 vintage badges. Cheers, Tinto |

That's exactly the badge I speak of. I had assumed from what BuyWyze said that it was an essential title required to complete any RND collection?

So, is that confirmation that the badge was in fact worn before 1924?

Hi Nozzer,
The badges on the belt are assumed to be collected by a New Zealand soldier during WW1 but I guess we need photographic evidence that the RNVR patch was worn then. I had thought that perhaps this badge was obtained during the Gallipoli campaign as New Zealanders were fighting alongside RNVR chaps. Cheers, Tinto |

There is also a South African button top left of the picture and SA troops were not in Gallipoli. It would seem to be a general collection. I have a similar belt and there are naval buttons on it, so possiblybadge picked up by the chap when they were being transferred on naval vessels? Brian |

The RNR cap badge was never worn by SA personnel, at least not officially. There was never a Royal Navy Reserve here, just the RNVR. Cheers, Alex |
