Default 19th cef

Hi all
I picked up this badge today as I have decided to start the long trail of collecting as many of the CEF badges as I can.
I paid £4.00, was it worth it? Don't let no. 1 be a fake!!
Regards

Hi Ubique66, welcome to the Forum.
You have begun a courageous journey. CEF badges are quite a project. The 19th looks good. Can you post an image of the back?

Looks good but would need to see the back to be certain. One thing is for sure - if it is good and you only paid £4 then you are off to a great start!

Cheers, Ian.

As Ian says, this is a good badge at a bargain price.

Definately good, I don't see a makers mark but it is by Tiptaft, Birmingham going by the style of the lugs. Cheers, Ian.

Can anyone tell me the significance of the similar 19 one with the words lincoln regiment around the number? Are they a pre war militia by any chance?

Hi Ubique, You have come across one of the problems with collecting Canadian badges. The pre-1914 militia was numbered as was the CEF. There-in lies much confusion, but you already have caught it. The 19th Battalion is a different unit than the 19th Lincoln, the latter being a pre-1914 badge.

Not sure what you may have for reference material, but one of the best on-line references is our own CEF Gallery. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/can.../cef_index.htm

Hi Ubique66 - hope you're well!
I came across this thread-opener (from 8 years ago!) and was wondering how you got on with your mission to collect the badges of the entire CEF ??
Are you still at it or did you manage to mop them up?
