Smile Buffs

Neil, I think everything you have put up looks OK, I am not sure about the BUFFS PALESTINIAN title, I have never handled one of these.

RE. buffs palestinian

This is the only one I have seen/handled not being british manufacture I would expect some differences and there are, the metal seems to have a high copper content as shows with it's colour and it readily bends but the lugs are most notable they seem to be strips of flat copper that have a swage in them to give more strength.

I don't know much about this but expectations are low

I think you expectations needn’t be low with that particular badge.

If I am not mistaken, I believe these silver badges were also worn on the officers blue patrols visor cap as well.

Ta, that's what I was thinking.
I have such a cap but with a slidered badge with silver or silver coloured plating rather than the lugged badge it originally had.
I've don't know if the badge is some form of "genuine" badge (plated for wear by an armoured battalion?).

Hi Neil,

This is a glengarry badge to the East Kent Militia. In 1881 it became the 3rd (Militia) Special Reserve Bn, and 4th (Militia) Bn the Buffs.

I attach pictures of mine and an OR's button to the same unit.

My Grandfather served with this unit until enlisting as a regular in 1889, when it was still recorded that he had been serving with the East Kent Militia.

Kind Regards,

Pete
