Unknown Newcastle Cap Badge
Hi All,
Can anyone help identify this cap badge please? I know it is connected with Newcastle Upon Tyne because of the coat of arms but that is all I know. Thanks a lot, Michael |

Thanks Hoot,
I've a friend who is a police collector, that's what I was hoping it might be for him. Michael |

Newcastle City Police, senior officers cap badge. Possibly 1940s/50s. I think this is correct but Altcar73 will probably be able to confirm that for you, if you drop him a PM.

I'm just not quite up to scratch on HO forces Thanks Dave, I assume then that by the 1950s they had bullion badges making the metal one obsolete for senior ranks?

Phil,
Post 1935 Newcastle Inspectors wore a very impressive KC wreath badge just slightly smaller than the helmet plate with enamelling in it. Those above Inspector wore a bullion wire cap badge (Arms in a wreath with KC on top). In 1952/3 they adopted the QC small senior officer style blue ring cap badge with an EIIR centre. Chrome & enamel for Inspectorate ranks and sterling silver & enamel for Supts. and above. Dave. |
