11th Hussars - number marked slider
Gents, acquired today for a few quid only, what I believe is a WW1 era 11th Hussars cap badge.
I know its been discussed here before, but it has what appears to be a regimental number stamped on the slider - 44333. Is there a way of working backwards from the number to identify the individual soldier? (if it is indeed his regimental number). Rrgards all Bess |

Hi Bess,
quite a few with that regimental number, but there is a George Bennett with that number who was with the Lancers if that helps. Mark |

Thanks Mark, that's a possibility- we know that men did move between regiments somewhat. It might make sense if he moved to another cavalry regiment.
At the top of the slider is another mark which MAY be a letter P. I can't decide though if it's the crimp mark with a small crescent that comes off of it though. . . |
