Default Battleford Light Infantry badges

Hi Guys,

I thought I would share a photo of my BLI badges. The cap and collars on the left are officers (silver cap badge with folding tangs, collars are gold in colour with screw post fasteners) and on the right are ORs (white metal and brass with lugs).

The shoulder brass are lugged and marked WM SCULLY LTD MONTREAL.

Has anyone else encountered these shoulders before? I think they are likely officer issue as well.

Geoff

Hi Geoff, Super scarce officer's cap badge. Congrats.
Just a thought, the BLI shoulders may be officers, but the officer's insignia was usually a consistent finish, eg the cap collars and titles would be silver? Could there have been another officer's pattern cap in bi-metal?

Hi Bill,

I have never heard of a bi-metal cap badge but I do agree with you that typically all badges match in finish. However, I don't think this is always the case. I've seen exceptions to the Saskatoon Light Infantry (MG). Cap and collars either come in white metal for the ranks or sterling silver for the officers but shoulders differ. I've seen the SLI shoulder title in gilding brass and also silver plate but the later shoulder title which was worn by officers SASK-LI/MG is in brass.

Anyone encounter anything different?

Speaking of the SAK-LI/MG titles. I would love to acquire one if anyone has them available.

Cheers,

Geoff

Thanks Ray,

I originally had a pair of the BLI sip-ons but the match went to a deserving home years ago. Any chance you need one to the 16/22nd horse? I think I still have a spare one of those. I am searching for a PA&B Vols should you ever find one.
