Default RND MG Battalion Badges
A group of RND MG Battalion items attributed to Pte Harry Hilton MGC. Identity discs impressed to the MGC with accompanying cap badge. Also his scarce RND MG Battalion patches depicting a fouled anchor embroidered in Navy Blue on a light blue cloth backing both uniform removed.

Hi Frank,

The medals are unit marked to the MGC. There is much discussion on the MGC Tank Corps Group on Facebook about how an MGC soldier was in a RND MG Company as his records have not survived.

If the RND were short of trained machine gunners the MGC would be the natural place to pluck some oven ready machine gunners if needed.

Perhaps he felt more attached to his MGC origins than his new unit so retained the MGC cap badge rather than the altered RND MCG but was obliged to wear relevant battalion cloth insignia and shoulder titles.

Just my stab in the dark…
