Default EAGLE ARM BADGES - MODE OF WEARING

Have searched and found Air Ministry Regulation 1934 which states. Uniform Khaki: Eagle embroidered in red silk on khaki ground. Position on both sleeves of jacket, the top edge of "ground" 1.1/4in. below the shoulder seam. Badge should be sewn on in such a manner that eagle is facing towards back or wearer. Uniform Blue-grey as above, but blue silk on dark ground. Position as above, on both jacket and greatcoat.

Interesting - it may explain why so many RAF personnel in Combined Operations Command during WW2 (RAF Servicing Commando Units etc) were considered to wear their insignia the wrong way around - eagle and tommy-gun facing to rear - shooting the person behind.
