Default Royal Munster Fusiliers economy

Hi all,

Was thinking I was not going to get the last of hard to get economy issue Irish badges but scored at last - Royal Munster Fusiliers, tapered slider with crimp mark, just the East Surrey and KOYLI to go. To be fair Alan sold one on the Classifieds not that long ago but it was already tomorrow here at the time !

Cheers Dean.

Thanks Gerard,

I have a soft spot for these and we all benefit from the definitive research on them of Andy and Julian.

I am sure you will pick up the ones you need just takes a bit of
luck and more cash than it used to.

Cheers Dean

Default Royal Munster economy with loops

Hi all,

I have picked up this GM Royal Munster Fusiliers badge which has loops and not a slider. So not an economy issue 1916 badge so unsure where it quite fits in?

Any thoughts folks, cheers Dean.

I would suggest a full sized officers tunic collar badge. However the cat looks a bit fat and rather close to a known repro die.

I think it is a fake because of the tiger (fat) and patina. I agree with Alan if it were genuine it would be a 1902 pattern OSD collar, but the method of fabrication, the construction and quality of finish is inconsistent with that.

Dean

the Harp badge is a Connaught Rangers Forage Cap badge with the scroll detached. Image below of a good side by side with a fake.

Any chance of a sharper image on the Munsters - is it cast or die stamped?

Shall get a better picture of the RMF thanks John. I thought it looked wrong and yes Connaught it is without the scroll, I was getting to that on one due course, cheers Dean

The RMF with the pinned tiger does bear the characteristics of a contemporary Indian made badge.
