Help needed with these five please
Evening all
I have five badges that I'm pretty stuck on, looking for some help with identification please. No. 1 has a makers mark of Drago - Paris and appears to be Foreign Legion - possibly naval? No. 2 also has a makers mark of Drago - Paris. No. 3 appears to be from the Middle East - it does have some (what I presume to be) Arabic writing which I'm not sure can be seen too well in the photo. No. 4 is a complete mystery. No. 5 is a bit of a mystery but has the motto "Pro Rege Et Grege" does this have some connection to the Black Watch or another Scottish Rgt perhaps? Apologies for the poor quality photo's but any help would be great! As always and help or advice will be very gratefully received. Best wishes Kev |

Number three I think is something to do with Aden Protectorate Levies or similar Arab outfit post WW2. The rest I don't have a clue, sorry.

No.1 is France's Parachutiste de Marine (Naval Paratrooper) but it should be bi-metal...(maybe it's just the light...)
No.2 is France's 27th Infantry Regiment (was based in Dijon,disb.1998) No.3 No.4 No.5 is Denmark's Den Kongelige Livgarde (The Royal Life Guard)The Royal Life Guards provide a permanent guard at the Amalienborg Palace, Kastellet (part of the old fortification of Copenhagen), Rosenborg. Jo

Hello,
Number 1 "parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine" is gold and silver plated brass. This is not a reproduction. It was made in the 80s. Best regards Bernard |

Hi
The colour of the backing for Danish badges denotes the battalion: so for #5 crimson will be 'staff', scarlet will be 1st Battalion. Graham

Thanks also to Bernard and Graham. I'm sure this won't be the last time I post pictures of the odd weird and wonderful badge - the collection I have aquired is very diverse!
Apologies once again for the poor quality photos I can only now see just how rubbish a couple of them are now that I'm on a PC. Well done to those of you who have still managed to identify the badges despite this. No.4 really is a mystery then - it may well be that this badge isn't even military. Still as Meatloaf is due to say in his 2018 album Bat out of Hell 36 - "4 out of 5 aint bad" Thanks again! BW Kev |
