Default Anodised Aluminium Cap Badges by Grove Manufacturing

Hi Guys,

I'm going to be pretty busy this weekend so I'll go for a small maker (well, so I think) of anodised badges.

This week it's Grove Manufacturing.

Again, only the badges you can actually touch - none from books, 'saw it on eBay two years ago' or other anecodatal evidence.

If you have a slider by this company actually MADE OF aluminium then do sing out - so far I have only come across those made of a non magnetic, silver (but not aluminium) metal.

I also have a request for help on a non anodised Gordon Highlanders badge - again, if you can help me out let me know at:

http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ead.php?t=6356

Grove Manufacturing badges currently held in collections are, so far:

Army Catering Corps (no Scroll)
Bristol University OTC
Glasgow University T.C (T.A)
Gloucestershire Regiment
Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
Northamptonshire Regiment
Parachute Regiment
Royal Artillery, one part badge, small size
Royal Pioneer Corps (KC)
Royal Pioneer Corps 1st patt Queens crown
Wiltshire Regiment

As per usual - no reference is made to officially authorised or unofficial commission status.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,
By first pattern I mean the early 'flat' example, all one piece without the addition of the separate attached wheel on the gun. Sorry probably my poor description, I would describe it as the first pattern made in anodised alluminium (if you discount a kings crown example of course).

Regards

Bess

Hi Chris,
Here are some pics of the gold a/a Grove Gloucestershire cap badge. You will see on the front that it has been blackened., but it is actually Gold underneath and on the back of the badge clearly gold a/a
Not the best pic I'm afraid as the blackening you see on the back of the gold badge is merely a reflection from the silver a/a badge.

Regards.

Hi Colin, really nice gold example. Is the front actually gilt or just the rear? Arn't you tempted . . . . just a little bit, to clean off the black paint and expose the gilt anodising? Ha!

Bess

Hi Bess,
Yes, I was tempted and it is gold underneath on the front ... couldn't help myself ! I was thinking about paint stripper but I thought better of it lol.
