Middlesex Cyclists?
This one does not look good at all but is it a copy of an actual badge or a spurious item?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lovely-Cy...cAAOSwHrtft7mS This one did make me laugh https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lovely-Vi...wAAOSwOrZfMVZH Condition:Used “Good condition with some tiny marks which is normal due to age and usage, please see pictures for ” ???? Badge was made yesterday not 100+ years ago.

More of the ‘Ron’ collection sadly which has been discussed several times already on here for it’s fake and fantasy items.
This one is definitely another duffer and also pure fantasy IMO. Look at the reverse of the battle honour scroll it’s impressed Albuhera and from the back you can see a cavernous gap between the dodgy overlaid scroll and the badge itself. There are examples of genuine badges which I believe are WW1 era with ‘modified’ overlaid scrolls but these have the SA honour impressed which has then been overlaid (more nearly and professionally) with the Albuhera honour. |

But to be fair he does offer some “lovely” badges. I might be wrong but I think I may have seen a genuine badge amongst this latest batch of “lovely” items . The T ASC ESSEX title is a proper monstrosity- it’s still managed to find bidders though .....

I have asked him where he ‘invented’ that badge. The reply maybe ‘lovely’

Bidding at over £36, it really is worrying that there are people who presumably think it is an original badge, as and when they wish to sell their collections, they will become aware of their error of judgement.

Remember when they were all listed as ‘lovely old school’ badges. Clearly he finally realised most aren’t that old, or related to schools . The lovely part is also highly debatable!

One for Essex collectors!
I notice he has an Essex HP centre on a QVC plate listed as Essex Police.

What's that saying, every day's a school day, some are going to learn from their purchases.

Ha, yes, the "Ron" collection has reared its head again!
Ron was a collector who cared little for what he added to his collection and if he didn't have it, he would get it made up. The badge shown in the opening post being an example. I would argue with him constantly about the merits of his collection to no avail. All I would get was "it must of existed because I have one". To be fair, the person selling the badges is not a militaria dealer. Anyway, Ron gave me the howler shown below some time ago, which he had made up. This thread has reminded me that I need to mark it as a fake. All the best, Andrew Last edited by Nozzer; 16-11-21 at 10:37 PM. |
