Default The Royal Yeomanry

Hi Guys,

Just wondering of there are only four variations of the metal Royal Yeomanry hat badge?

Hi Mick,

When you say four do you mean three metal and one bullion?

The two metal examples in the middle seem to be the same down to the nick on the edge of the slider where the straight edge meets the curve.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

No - I mean metal ones. The middle two are slightly different. One is made by Firmin (marked on slider) and the other has no maker's name.

Hi Mick,

No makers name post 2012 if I remember but are the sliders the same?

I suspect one badge is pre 2012 and the other post but both by Firmin. Even from the image you have supplied the sliders look the same from the area visible in the piccy.

Look out for die flaws on both sides of the badge, shape of letters etc.

Regards,

Chris

Rear dies are different - replacement?

I'm not sure though if any other makers apart from Firmin made official modern badges after 2012? Maybe it was made earlier by another maker. Can you send obverse images of the two badges please.

The early large example with lugs is also Firmin (F&S to top of right spur).

Regards,

Chris
