Default RAEME with Nuts

Just acquired this. RAEME QC cap badge which is in gilding and white metal, but a two part construction held together by screw posts and nuts. Maker marked 'Luke Melb' it shows signs of regular cleaning, so I'm assuming it's the real deal. I've never seen a badge constructed in this way before. Any enlightenment from down under appreciated.

G'day John

Whilst I have never seen a badge made up this way, I'd suggest that its an officers badge.

Hope that this helps.

regards

Phil.

hi guys
ive also never seen this construction but doubt its an officers version. ive never heard of an officers version either. thought they were all the same.
i would say the pins or rivets have broken off and the engineer has repaired it adding his own touch.

Thanks for the input lads. I think bc has the answer, a standard badge modified by a skilled tradesman (for an unknown reason other than cleaning perhaps?).
