Default KRRC 1863 Cross Belt Plate

In my opinion the hallmarks and maker mark have been spliced in. Solder patches to the rear.

I agree Keith. A proper ‘forgery’ job.

Are the 'patches' merely the witness mark left when stamping the hallmarks?
Just a thought Tony.

The repair to the cross isnt very good. The repair to the crown is better or is it cracking clearly visible front and back.
The maker is an unusual one.

Oh well, I wouldn’t be willing to take my chance, good luck to whoever won it.

Just noticed it was procured at the recent Canterbury Auction KRRC/RB collection.
