Default NZFA uniform

Interesting item.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NZFA-NZE...IAAOSwJ9dgK1V2

Can any of our NZ collectors tell me if that lanyard was a standard for NZ gunners during the Great War.

The white lanyard doesn't seem to have been worn by New Zealand artillery.

Keith

Hi Keith, WW1 New Zealand manufactured lanyards were typically khaki or plaited leather for officers, and khaki or red for infantry and green for mounted rifles.
White lanyards were also a favourite colour for the NZASC, and was also commonly worn by the NZA, as can be seen in the photos of Gunner Emmins and the Clark Brothers. John Clark is wearing a white lanyard and William is wearing what I suspect to be a red lanyard.

As for the corporals uniform on Ebay, it is British manufactured, as is the lemon squeezer, so I highly suspect the lanyard with the grouping is also British made, and sadly not my area of knowledge, it looks good IMO.

Just an observation .From a research point of view , The red Main Body chevron, Burns spent 2 years and 72 days overseas . He arrived in Egypt 8th of January 1916 .The jacket also has bombardier rank and Burns was a Gunner ,so the jacket is not his . A display rather than a group.

Thank you very much for your responses gentlemen.

A bit like the Australians abroad at that time then, no laid down principles.

Cheers, Keith
