79th Cameron Highlanders - pre-WW1 badge sizes
Hi,
I've just been doing some family tree research and have found that a great uncle of mine whom I knew had served with the City of Winnipeg battalion from October 1914 through to 1919, had also been a member of the militia 79th Camerons pre WW1. So needless to say I'm now looking to acquire the necessary to suitably commemorate the fact. But I understand that there were two different sizes of the militia badge, the smaller being for use on the glengarry and sporran, whilst the larger was reserved for the bonnet. The one badge which I currently possess is 5cms wide by 5.8cms high, so could someone tell me if that's the smaller or larger version please and then whatever size the "other" version is? Many thanks |

The larger badge measures aprox 7 cm tall by 6,5 cm wide, this being the Feather Bonnet badge. The smaller size is for the Glengarry, as you describe, the same size is for the Sporran badge which has one large flat lug in the centre.

79th CAMERON
This title has a partial back marking which perhaps reads … WINNIPEG
