White metal Worcester's?

Just bought these two in the hope they are good.
Is the Worcester's a genuine badge. Rock solid slider bur never seen one before in WM.

The all GM princes feathers, is this an economy R Wilts Yeo.
Any comments gratefully received.

I'd say it's chrome or nickel plated, as the slider and braize are also white.

Would it have been officially plated, say for the band or regimental police??

There was no economy RWiltshire Yeomanry. The 1916 issued badge for both them and the DH was the same bronzed finish cap badge.

PoW plumes could be either RWY or DHY.

Re plated Worcs. Unless there is some documentary evidence a chrome badge was worn by band etc. it’s infinitely more likely it was done for display purpose after wear. Worthy of research though.

There is a publication on Badges of the Worcestershire Regiment by R.W. Bennett, I’m sure a member will have read it so perhaps can tell us if plated badges are mentioned.

To me, the PoW feathers looks like something has broken off the bottom the the badge, I think it's a Welsh Reg economy badge. The bottom of the scroll on the left side when looking at the rear looks to have some damage.

Have looked under a jewellers loop, the edges of the POW feathers badge are clean, no signs of breakage etc.

There is no mention of plated badges in Bennett’s book. He states that the sealed pattern card for the GM Worcestershire badge of the pattern worn 1897-1923 noted that the badge was also made in WM. He postulated that it was for wear by a militia or volunteer battalion in the period 1897-1900 prior to VB scrolls being added for the 1st VB below and 2nd VB above the Firm scroll. VB scrolls were added to WM badges from 1900 up until 1905 as a three part scroll, and then an additional South Africa honour scroll was added. A blackened badge was described with VB scroll added and again he postulates that this was the ORs version and the WM was for Officers and Senior NCOs circa 1897-1900. This isn’t particularly insightful for a badge worn post 1906 with standard slider but does provide some history of WM badges.

Thanks for all the replies folks. The badge appears to have wear under the plating so I think the suggestion that the original owner had it plated could be correct.
