Default Southern Rhodesian Customs

I am a somewhat eclectic collector and find that certain items "talk to me " and then , having been "spoken to ", I try to aquire the item to put with all the other oddeties which clutter my home.
One such item was a bullion wire badge to the Southern Rhodesian Customs. Colin Owen , in his book on Southern African badges had it as "Rhodesian and Nyasaland Navy Officers cap badge ". If you study your atlas you'll see that these territories are landlocked and so a Navy was a little redundant ( even in Africa ). Colin didnt always get it right ! They did however have a Customs service and I was delighted this week to get , not only the badge, but also the cap. The cap was made ( or at least sold ) by A & L Corne Ltd, Hat and Cap Makers, 3 Tanner Street , London. The owner, whose name was inked in to the lining, was S A C Peters, CID. I must find out a bit more about Mr Peters.
