Default WW1 Tank Corps Medals

I know where there is a WW1 Pair, 201071 Pte Tompkins Tank Corps.

Is there anyone who has access to these records and can maybe share the information? Curious if these would be worth picking up.

Cheers!

Harold Stanley James Tompkins.

Lived at 70, Eagle Street, Coventry, employed as a Motor cycle repair man and fitter.

Aged 22, enlisted 16.11.15 into The MGC, as Gunner 2887.

Mobilised 10.3.16.

Transferred to MGC Headquarters Company 7.10.16

Appears to have transferred to Central Stores 11.1.18 and to Tank Stores 16.11.18.

Demobilised 15.1.19 and returned to Coventry and transferred to Class Z 15.2.19.

However, I was under the impression that a Soldier's Regiment/Unit/Corps etc, at the time of departing from The UK, was that shown on his medals; if that is correct, that wouldn't fit in with him leaving for France as a member of The MGC.

Nor can I find any paperwork showing a change in his number.

Unless there is another Harold Stanley James Tompkins.

Regards.

Brian

it is the same chap. If you look closely at his MGC service papers the new service number (201071) is visible above his original service number (albeit slightly faint).
Additional information shows that he originally served as a Gunner with "F" Battalion (which was re-designated as 6th Battalion in 1918.

I think they are worth buying, there was a time time when such pairs could be had with ease for twenty quid or so, sadly, those days are long gone.
