Default Sanskrit inscription?

I picked this badge up in a junk shop at the weekend, looks like the inscription could be sanskrit? Is it Indian?

I do not think it is Sanskrit. Sanskrit is an old language still used for religious texts. Something like Latin in the Roman catholic church,

But the script is Devanagri, which is also used for wrirting Sanskrit (though not in this case).

The Crown is the Nepalese royal crown.

The text नेपाल प्रहरी can be transcribed as NEPĀL PRAHARI which means Nepal Police.
