Default RNE in scroll grenade badge

Hi,

I have just seen a fire gilt badge as above listed for sale and am curious as to what it is, it looks like a collar badge worn by engineers but the acronym RNE is a mystery to me, I thought it might be Royal Netherlands Engineers but they go by the designation genie not engineers. Apparently this has come up on this forum previously but I am damned if I kind find the post after searching for over an hour. Can anyone help?

Regards
Steve
