Default 5 Artist Rifles for review.

Can I ask members opinions on these five, the top right badge I'm confident in, but the rest......
Any help appreciated. Tony.

The badge at top right is the one that I like the least due to the protruding chin and staring eyes of Minerva. I am not too keen on the badge lower right either.

Top left in WM restrike from the OSD die; top middle good; top right good ‘Brucie’; bottom left probably a restrike due to poor rear definition - you do see really nice ones of these where it looks like Minerva is wearing eye liner; bottom right fake with fat font from Martin Marsh’s catalogue.

All IMO of course

Photo of said catalogue thanks to Tim (grey_green_acorn).

Cheers,

Luke

P.S. the top middle is a stunner, if you ever wanted to move it on let me know.

Here is the badge from the same die as the top left restrike.

It’s not that die. It’s the Gaunt die where the hair finishes short of the scroll, like this one which has lost its finish.

JT used to have a lovely example in his albums. Sadly he’s no longer active on here

Not badges that I have ever really liked, the amount of spurious examples is truly bewildering, some very obvious indeed, a glance at the reverse is all that is needed, others far less so.
I like the pale coloured example in the centre of the upper three.
