Default ROYAL NAVY

Found with a number of Royal Navy trade badges
Printed red cross in side blue circle with blue D under on white backing
Grateful for any help in identification

Mike many thanks for your help Like you Thought it may be dental related .To keep me sane in look down I've been collecting to the dental services of the R.N and R A F
For the navy I have found ,the following trade badges

Dental Hygienist I have two variations -there are quite a number
Dental Surgery Assistant 3 variation again a number of variations
Dental Nurse [D N ] none as yet
My son is a surgeon commander [medical ] but no point asking him

R A F only collars found from an excellent album on the forum

Royal Navy Sick Berth Attendant (Dental Attendant) 1949

Also Dental Nurse : Dental Nurse. Royal Navy. Cloth. Embroidered. Blue on white. Circle. Letters 'DN' in centre.

Regarding variations : White printed or Embroidered.Gold on blue.
Rank : Chief Petty Officer Crown above. Small.
..........Petty Officer Crown above. Large.


P.S While searching I found the Navy equivalent of my own qualification !

Default ROYAL NAVY

As stated above the Red Cross with 'D' below was indeed the badge of a 'Sick Berth Attendant (Dental Attendant)'. It was used from 1949 as previously said and stopped being worn in 1965 - just in case you wanted to know exactly when it was in use!
