Default George 1V silver coin

I know this is not military but my next door neighbour found this coin and cleaned it up he asked me about it, so i looked on the internet and I can find nothing like it referring to George 1V.i could find plenty coins with George with a Roman laurel wreath but not this coin.it is 2ins in diameter does anyone know what it refers to he also asked me if I thought it valuable of which i have no idea. Thanks

Well I put all different combinations ie coin, medal, medallion etc. and I kept coming up with the same images of George with laurel wreath quite intriguing as i could not get any image of the actual coin or what ever it is, However i know this is not a coin forum so its of no real concern but thanks for looking. he will have to take it to a specialist.
thanks again

As a coin collector I can say it is not the design of the authorised currencies minted in the UK

It is either a medallion, jeton or commemorative piece.

Some kind of commemorative token, presumably, the date on the back is 4th June 1759, during the reign of King George II.
The front refers to George Prince of Wales?
Commemorating the British victories of 1759?

Commemorative coin celebrating the majority of George Prince of Wales
4th June 1759. He became George 111 the following year.
Tellus (earth) seated playing a cymbol while others dance around an oak tree. Coin designed by Thomas Pingo, a good example struck in silver could realise £2.000
Eimer 666.

Hi Arty

George, Prince of Wales, attains his Majority, Copper Medal, 1759, by Thomas Pingo.

Hope this helps

The website is not the cheapest out there but their stock is good. Divide by three and take into account condition.

War and Sons might offer him a pound for it - if owner includes postage...

Congratulations on a clear identification! I work as a numismatist in a museum but we rarely get things like this though I probably have references to these tokens at work. Most of what I get are Roman coins.
