Default Intelligence Corps "FS" Armband - A Rarity?

The armband below came in an old suitcase find of Intelligence Corps uniforms and material from a WW2 officer, Captain W S Karran.

He was a solicitor before the war and documents found with the uniform indicate that was his role within the Intelligence Corps. He had prior service in the RAuxAF, bizarrely!

I cannot find any details about this armband. It does not conform to the standard Int Corps armbands although the colours are clearly for that unit. It does not appear theatre made although it is unmarked and the only notion I can think of for "FS" is Field Security?

Any clues appreciated. I have emailed the museum at Chicksands but no response as yet.

Found an auction lot from 2013 that included a WWII 'Field Security' armband.

https://sheffieldauctiongallery.com/...213/page4.html

Lot 96 - A WWII Medal Quintet to 2074982 Sgt. A. Riley Intelligence Corps

History

"On the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-45), 31 Field Security Sections were raised to accompany the British Expeditionary Force in an intelligence role. However, the Intelligence Corps was only revived as a full unit in July 1940, by turning the Field Security Wing of the Military Police into an independent formation."

What about the description !

" I had to contact the museum at Chicksands to confirm it as I could find nothing in any books or on the internet."

For the record.....

1. Yes, it is my listing on eBay
2. It is not my armband
3. I was asked by a friend to help sell some material he had so I am doing him a favour. I explained various selling options, eBay was his choice.
4. I am appalled by the vitriol. I asked an innocent question. If I have broken rules, then I have no issue apologising. However, I do not believe bullying because someone didn’t get first dibs (without checking facts first!) is the way ahead for a friendly forum.

For future reference

Thank you Mike, much appreciated.

When I joined the forum, I made sure I read the rules - it is a constant source of irritation to me in other forums when people don’t!

However, for whatever reason, I didn’t pick up on that one so I am grateful that it has been pointed out. For my infringement, I apologise wholeheartedly. Clearly I should have been more detailed in my original post.

For the record, I am not a dealer. Like many collectors, from time to time I sell spare items not in my theme to fund my own collecting theme/addiction. In this instance, a mate who had acquired these items had no ideas as to what he had (he collects medals but these items were in a joblot/spur of the moment buy). He therefore asked if I could help him out and sell the stuff on eBay, which I agreed to do. Clearly that has backfired somewhat!

No offence was intended towards the generosity of the forum membership and I fully accept my responsibility to make myself aware of the rules.

Nice one Sky Pilot.

It's refreshing to read an apology from a member when others blatantly and consistently flout/abuse/disregard rules in respect of seeking advice for the purposes of selling items elsewhere.

Regards.

Brian
