Default Fabulous....and lucky find today!

I was extremely fortunate to pick up this badge in a mixed old box from an estate. All absolutely 100% genuine and untouched for years.

This was certainly the star of the show....

At the risk of sounding thick, can you tell which unit or organization the badge represents.... thanks

Good point! Over excited.

It’s for the Citizens Volunteer Force, nicknamed “Winston’s Bobbies”.

The unit was raised by Winston Churchill in 1911 after the Sydney Street Seige and was designed to assist the Metropolitan Police in various duties. It was kind of a cross between a militia and a Special Constabulary from what I can make out. The unit was absorbed into other units in 1914 at the outbreak of WW1 so was a very short lived and specialised unit.

Badges were designed to be worn on a civilian bowler hat and either had the pin back fixing shown or a double blade fixing.
