Looks ok to me. Rating of Carpenter's Crew which is what he was in 1915. The medal roll gives his entitlement as a WW1 trio claimed by his father as Shaw had died of influenza 4/7/18. The only thing I would comment on is the naming as he was Francis JAMES William Shaw so not F. F. W. Shaw but naming mistakes are not uncommon. I would have it in my collection if it was to a ship I collect to.

Hi David,
On advise have just taken advantage of Ancestrys current freebies and printed off some provenance for this star and as you say there is a difference of initials. I also checked The CWGC site for Weston Mill Cemetery, Plymouth, and he is recorded on their commemoration download as a Second Lieutenant, not a Second Cooper! Thanks for your info and confirmation of authenticity which got me off my butt to take the research a little further. Kevin |
