Repair Shop - BBC1 18.03.2020 - RAF Cap
....I cannot believe that I have just watched an 'expert hatter' repair a WW2 RAF Officers cap and badge by using water colour paint on the new fabric to age it and gold enamel paint on the actual thread of the badge itself!
Maybe I am getting too picky in my old age?

This reminds me of Triggers broom! ‘I’ve had this broom for 30 years’ ‘only replaced the head four times and the shaft twice’!
That cap was original up until that twat got his hands on it........ |

Me too, but you have to do it properly, one coat of primer, one coat of undercoat and two coats of gloss. a rub down with flour paper and then a final two coats of gloss.

he comes highly recommended by the Imperial War Museum. obviously no one is interested in history.

I was watching the program and thought they would do a 'sympathetic' but minimal clean up of the hat .
I know nothing about restoration but painting a badge !
