Oddball Herefordshire thing.
Hi. I dont propose that this is anything important, but would like to know if there is any significance behind it.
The Herefordshire cap badge and background star are cast as one piece and the US Signal Corps badge is applied to the front (but the casting appears to be made to accept it). The blue flags are an oddity as these are usually red & white. Its probably a presentation piece signifying something between the 2 units?? Any ideas ? Thanks. |

Probably a souvenir piece as Ttere were a lot of American troops stationed in Herefordshire during WW2. There was also a large American Army hospital near Kington used after D Day for American casualties.
The Kington museum has a very good display of photographs and artefacts relating to the American 'occupation' of Herefordshire. https://www.kingtonmuseum.com/exhibitions |
