Default 21st bn KRRC (Yeoman Rifles)

Thought i would share this memorial plaque to the 21st bn KRRC, not in London however, its in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. Unit raised in 1915 from the farming communities of North Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland. Trained in Helmsley before embarking for the western front. Memorial plaque takes pride of place in the market square of Helmsley.

Kind regards, Dave

My passion is collecting medals to and researching the men of the 21st KRRC (The Yeoman Rifles. A very interesting Battalion whose Adjutant at age 19 was the future Prime Minister Anthony Eden. The first CO (who was killed in action at Flers in September 1916), was The Earl of Feversham. The family home was at Duncombe Park in Helmsley . In the family chapel is the steel helmet (complete with bullet hole) that the Earl was wearing and his memorial plaque…..
