BP can you post the backs of the wings, as I don't like the look of the ones on the right.... I bought two sets (seperately and they both look great form the front but from the back they are definately pakistani made copies.....).

You are quite correct in questioning the two wings, modern copys, but where will I find an original pair. No hope. The metal para badge is also modern copy. All the rest are of the period, genuine badges, thanks, John.

Hi,

I agree, I've held out for wings like that, and in the end resigned myself to the dud.... :-( Sorry to have broached the subject, but I always like to think others would tell me if they weren't happy with one of my badges (afterall if you've paid money then you may be able to get it back). They fill the display nicely though :-)

Have a nice evening,
ATB,
Tom

John,

Thanks for posting those examples - some wonderful pieces there - you've done very well to find those parachute battalion signs - hens teeth!

I wanted to ask your best guess, based on your experience of collecting to the Burma theatre on what the attached panther's head sign is (ignore the 107 RAC below - that beautiful example has since been stolen in the post by the way...)

The last time the Formation Sign discussed it (FS 228) there was some degree of concensus that it was the 111 Indian Long Range Penetration Brigade. Would you agree with this? It's still defying absolute identification in the collection!

Best wishes
Jonathan

No problem with your doubts on the wings, people new to collecting cloth badges need to see examples of both good and bad examples.I am lucky in that for the past 30 years I have had the guidance of Les Cable, one of the most respected collectors in the world, John.

Not working. Have you remade your albums public, since Mike made them all private?
