Winnipeg Rifles Overseas fob
Hello to all!
I'm a newbie here, so greetings to everyone. I recently came across the following: A double-sided fob for the 144th Winnipeg Rifles...Overseas/Canada. From what I understand, this is WW1 era and made from a copper compound? I have found cap/lapel bades on the Internet...but strangley not fobs. Could anyone expand on this subject for me please? I will try to upload a picture too. Very best regards Piers |

Hello Piers, Welcome to the Forum.
In response to your question, fobs were souvenir items. The 144th was a Canadian Expeditionary Force battalion recruited by the 90th Winnipeg Rifles.

Hello Bill,
Many thanks for that. When you say souvenier items, in what context...? ....were they brought back by troops for relatives/loved ones etc ? Piers |
