46th North Midland Division Slip ons

Three different 46th Midland Division slip ons, one badged to the Royal Fusiliers. I wonder if this pattern of slip on should be regarded as representative of the ME theater of operations, but when were the worsted cloth titles dismissed? Thank you and all the best!

Typical and very nice. A pedantic point but the third badge is not to the RF, but to 2 NF, the Support Battalion in 46 Inf Div from Jul 43 - Mar 44. Mike

Sure Mike, I guess it's high time I should be start wearing spectacles.... If i remember correctly, in the lot were a combined formation sign (NF and Oak) and single 46th Div Oak slip on with a separate NF worsted cloth title... but I am not sure because I haven't the patches under hand, at the moment...

The various ACI that refer to the introduction of cloth shoulder titles, arm-of-service, & regimental flashes etc. only applied to the Army in the UK.

All insignia was removed from uniform by Troops embarking for overseas (formation signs etc. were supposedly surrendered for re-issue)

HQ Middle East specifically requested that Troops did not arrive with any insignia on uniform due to issues of washing, security etc. hence the adoption of slip-on titles bearing Formation Signs.
