You've got me puzzled now!!. I used to collect RASC/RCT years ago and cannot recall ever seeing a standard size non-voided G6 type. If I remember correctly the pugri badge was about 50mm across. Going by the slider on your badge I still go with it being a pugri badge but standard size.

Hello Stephen,

Malc, is the man to consult on the Scots Greys. Not seen him about recently though.

Nice to see your long-slidered example. Thanks for posting.

I’m sorry about the delay in getting this information to you all. I hope it is of some comparative use. The dates of these badges generally cover the period before, during and after the 1st World War. As usual, I apologise for my poor photographic skills.
The slider measurements are given from left to right as eg 35/10 = total length 35mm and 10mm projecting below the base of the badge (here, the base of the scroll).
Where there is [ ] this means that the slider is missing, or replaced or cut down.

Regular battalions Pattern 4362A/1896
1st row c 1906-15
35/10 – [ ] – [ ] – 35/10 – 36/10 – 38/14 – 35/8 – [ ] – [ ] – 37/10 – 34/8 – 36/9
2nd row, c 1906-15 continued
35/10 – 37/12 – 34/9 – 39/12 – 39/9 – 39/11 – 36/5 – 35/9 – 36/10

3rd row, c 1915-26
35/10 – 34/9 – 31/5 – 36/13 – 40/17 – 39/14 – 37/11 – 35/7 – 39/10 – 38/14

There is no clear gradient but the longer sliders seem to be from the later period. There is a minor saving on metal in the construction of the later badges but a small increase in slider metal.
