Leading seamen WWII?
Hi Team
Would this be WWII era (late) worn into 50's? Also does the oval shape have any meaning? I have also come across same badge but differant name Leading Seamen , Leading Able Seamen , Leading rate? cheers Phill Last edited by Phill Lockett; 08-07-23 at 03:47 AM. |

Leading Seaman, yes if seaman, Leading Hand if others such as Leading Stoker etc. certainly not Leading Able Seaman. Leading Rate also acceptable both as Seaman and non Seaman.
The thread looks 2WW - 50s. Why the oval shape? This was due to trimming off the bottom of the badge to make it less bulky if good conduct stripes were added to the anchor. John Last edited by royston; 08-07-23 at 02:32 PM. |
