Bucks cadet badge?
Any one confirm what this is?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPERB-WW...p2047675.l2557 Collar or 'put together' as it's oddly 2 pieces. |

I have one of these. It's been in my Bucks. Constabulary collection for about 30 odd years. That said, I've not been able to confirm its use by the police or indeed by anyone else for that matter.
The badge I have is identical to the one which was listed and sold several days ago on eBay. It is indeed a shield sweated onto a wreath. Nothing particularly "odd" about its construction in my opinion, many badges were often made using that method. Dave. |

My comment was that it would be odd for that construction for a cap badge. I doubt it is a cadet cap badge but would not rule out a collar? Alan Alan |

Alan,
The one I have is 40mm across and 35mm tall. That seems rather large for a collar badge, but I suppose it's a matter of opinion. Dave. |

I was thinking officers collar rather than ORs but without a firm ID I will never know. Cadet units wearing their own badges was not unknown and there were a few pre WW1 (before being recognised and badged to local TF) and in 1930-2 but both are poorly recorded. Alan |

Alan,
Its most unusual for a police badge to be in brass - white metal or chrome yes, but not brass. On the balance of probabilities, its not a police related item. That said the minute I get rid, someone will tell me what it is. The fact that it's been made in two parts suggests that they were produced in small quantities. Perhaps another forum member will ID it. Dave. |
