Machine Gun Section, Non Combatant Corps cap badge.
A rare find and a little known unit. The Machine Gun Section of the Non Combatant Corps were formed in 1919 as a direct result of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia.
Unofficially known as the "Millwall Quakers", they were formed from a platoon of dockland pacifists who had enlisted into the Non Combatant Corps to serve as stretcher bearers on the Western front. After the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and during the concomitant Civil War they were so alarmed by the rise of politcal atheism that they put aside their pacifist principles and took up arms for the greater good. They saw little action but were involved in heavy skirmishes with the Red Hordes around Archangel on the 1st April 1920. This extremely rare and completely unofficial cap badge will not be offered for sale, so please do not ask me to part with it. |

"Heavy skirmishes with The Red Hordes" - even a Millwall pacifist vegan docker would fight Man. United.
