Default Rifle Badge Thoughts

I have decided to sell off some of my rifle badges, and have someone interested, but do not want to sell a bogus badge. So, I have this one that I think is bad due to the large lettering on the slider.

Thank you,

Terry

A restrike in my belief.

The large font GAUNT LONDON is found on some genuine 1950s badges but also early repros.

Restrikes from this die abound on eBay all exhibiting the flaw in the circlet that runs 4 o’clock to 6 o’clock and I’ve seen these solid back types with J.R.GAUNT B’HAM marks which are completely spurious for a metal badge.

I do own a badge from this die that I consider genuine however it has a long slider and small 11mm Gaunt mark. A badge from this die is pictured in Wilkinson’s 1969 book which lends at least some examples credibility in my belief.

Thanks Luke, I was pretty sure that was the case. I'll just toss that one in the fake box. Have no idea when I got it or from who/whom???

Appreciate the detailed feedback!

As mentioned, it is a fake. Even though there are some Gaunt marked sliders in the 11mm size that may be good, I have made it a rule to avoid all such Gaunt marked badges.
