Chromed, Numbered NAAFI Badge
In a lot of badges I bought is a chromed second issue NAFFI cap badge with the number on the reverse. See pictures
https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ctureid=207232 and https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ctureid=207233 It looks to be a standard bronze and numbered cap badge that has been chromed, as the lugs are also chrome now. What I don't know is why was this done. Was there some members who wore chromed badges or possibly some other reason? In Jon Mills excellent NAFFI booklet he shows a small round white metal badge, but I believe that was earlier than this and he is asking about it as well. Thanks for any help! Terry |

The cromed version of the naafi cap badge is a way of getting more money out of collectors. it was only produced in the dull brass anything els of the numbered versions is questionable. NAAFI By Land & Sea is a good read and debunks quite a bit. The research was definitive and extensive. the largest bit of work done on the full history from 1896 to present day |

Thanks NAAFI,
Thanks for the info! I figured it was a dud, my chrome plated one, after I started seeing numerous such being offered on eBay. I can say I bought mine form a known collection so don't feel bad about it all. I would love to have that book, and a lot of others that I know are out there. Unfortunately a retirement budget forces one to decide between books ot look at all the nest badges, or to buy he badges. Always a tough decision, but for now I have to go for the badges. Terry |
