Don't you mean gilding?

These wear also worn by SNCO's and members of the Corps of Royal Engineers, on a rectangular waist belt plate.

No not necessarily, this one looks to have traces of silvering left on the leaves, RGA (Volunteers), but thats just my opinion.

If you are not fussed about the muck (Patina).... drop it in some white vinegar for an hour or so.... if there is any S/P or gilt left on it ... it should come back once all the grease and muck has been removed.

Reverse...50mm x 45mm...........and don't you think that the lugs are too long for a buckle?
