Default Welsh Regiment and Cheshire

Good morning

I'm fairly happy with these but would welcome comments. Both badges have vent holes and the Welsh has a replacement copper slider.

Many thanks

Martyn

Just from the photographs, I would say they are both okay.

Martyn,
That's not a pattern of the WR that I'm convinced is right. I cannot quite see from your photos but I rather think it is the type with really poorly defined viens on the feathers and the fact that the shank has been replaced reinforces my suspicions as the examples I have seen have poor quality fixings.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Many thanks Kevin

I have put a few more pictures on. It has a blow hole behind the crown with spelter coming from it so the hole does look correct.

Martyn,
Thanks for putting some more photos. I'm still not convinced with it as the definition on the PoWs feathers is very poor and fakers have been known to incorporate blow/braise holes in their copies. That said the Lambourne issue of this badge is also very poor in terms of definition but is right.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Many thanks Kevin. I'll keep hold of it for now and see what else I can find out about it. It is just so well put together. The crown is well fitted and I like the spelter in the blue hole. Thanks your help.

Regards

Martyn

Hello Martyn.
Having looked at the second set of photographs, I am afraid that I think the Welsh Regiment is actually completely spurious and needs to be replaced.
I had glanced at the original photographs and just assumed it was merely a replaced slider, but, now I think it is rather more than that, very odd looking crown, I do not like it and would certainly not be happy with it.
Never mind, there is a plentiful supply of originals out there which can often be had for very little money.
Regards Frank
