Garry,
Thanks for posting the close up pictures, the arm badge is most interesting indeed, overall it would seem that the photo reinforces the argument that the pre RTC East Riding Yeomanry were pretty much loose cannons when it came to insignia, In what what actually worn vis what should have been worn/what was authorised to be worn. Regarding the Display at Beverly, if anyone is going, please don't expect to see to much as there is not much to see (uniform or insignia wise that is), there are however some superb facsimiles of soldiers diaries and photographic collections so from a local history/WW1 military history perspective it's worthwhile making a call, but from a purely badge collectors perspective possibly not so. Myself living 30 minutes away from the display and the ERY being my local Yeomanry Regiment I enjoyed the visit from both perspectives. Cheers, Marcus |

This photo
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW1-PHOTO-...IAAOSw9eVXWRiM shows both badges in use at the same time as both cap and collars. The sgt has scrolled fox cap but plain fox collars whilst the LCpl 2 down has the opposite! They are wearing Imperial service badges so must date c-1910-14. Note the seller is selling a copy of the original photo should you wish to bid! Last edited by Alan O; 04-03-19 at 02:35 PM. |

Yet another photo showing evidence of Yeomanry doing their 'own thing'. Thanks for showing Alan

A definition of uniform is :
remaining the same in all cases and at all times; unchanging in form or character. "blocks of stone of uniform size" synonyms: constant, consistent, steady, invariable, unvarying, unfluctuating, unvaried, unchanging, unwavering, undeviating, stable, static, sustained, regular, fixed, even, equal, equable, monotonous More I think it is one of the fascinating aspects of our interest that even within a small unit there is often little or no uniformity in the way that members are dressed/badged. P.B.

Once again with TF and Yeomanry units its not feasible to state that on this date the xx was worn as you might do with Regulars.

I have seen very photos of the ERY Armd Car Coy between the wars but this one of the band shows the beret and RTC badge in use.

East Ridings Lance Cap
Thought it might be nice to add this in. East Ridings Lance cap a very rare thing indeed and a fantastic looking cap. Considering the length of time of the Imperial yeomanry lasted and not all Officers had them. Unfortunately no name.

Thanks I may well have a go at that. East Ridings is my adopted Yeomanry Regiment to collect once I finish with Lancers.

ERY
Again a little late to the party once on top of the Lancer stuff I will get some study time in on these and then collect. With the amount of restrikes and fakes this will be another mine field.

Not as bad as you think with the ERY, most the copies are easy to identify, if I see you at Outwood I will give you some top pointers. Cheers, FMT600 |
