Default Staffordshire Imperial Yeomanry Badges

Here are some badges to the Staffordshire Imperial Yeomanry and pre great war Staffordshire Yeomanry and am posting them here for reference: White metal badge circa 1900 - 1908[20 mm x 40 mm] with 2 black loops [W - E, 32 mm], worn on scarlet FSC; khaki helmet; service dress cap and slouch hat (Smith and Coogan, 1993) (also worn previously by 1st Militia Bn, The South Staffordshire Regt (see Churchil book)). The second item [25 mm x 28 mm] with two of three black loops [W - E, 20 mm] present, was worn on the shoulder chains of the blue frock (1908-1914) so is TF not Imperial Yeomanry as first thought. Lastly a guilding metal knot, same dimensions as the first example was worn on the service dress cap from 1908-1913.

p.s please ignore shoulder title in background the Earl of Chester's Imperial Yeomanry (photographed in error).

Nice badge Philip,

The cap badge I have is approx 37mm in height and width but on a slider, I do not have any reference material to the Yeomanry so I can not check whether it's a cap or a collar ??

Dave.

Hi Griff,

Corrected. Smith and Coogan say it was worn on the blue frock.

Hi Dave,

A White metal knot 37mm across is a South Staffs cap badge minus the scroll - sorry to say.

Hi Garry,

You are dead right, I remember being told that a few months ago and I have just re-read K.& K. where they state that the crown and knot to the Yeomanry ( Hussars ) is in gilding metal, I have been looking for a smallish white metal crown for a repair, what a coincidence ??

Dave.
